Education

St Paul's School Frankston, Peninsula School Mt Eliza (Matriculated 1970), Monash University (dropped out 1973, and again 1975), Prahran CAE (Diploma of Art and Design 1979), Melbourne University (Graduate Diploma in History 1996, Postgraduate Diploma in History 1997, PhD in history May 2002). Failed to learn Ancient Greek 1999-2000 *sigh*.

Media career

Co-editor, Lot's Wife (Monash student newspaper) 1975. Founding member, Gay Community News Collective 1979-82. Assistant Editor, OutRage (national gay magazine) 1983-86, columnist and writer 1986-92. News editor, Melbourne Star Observer (Melbourne gay weekly) 1992-94. Editor, OutRage 1994-95, Associate Editor 1995-96. News editor, BNews and Melbourne Star (new Melbourne gay papers) December 2000 to March 2004.

HIV/AIDS activist career

Founding member, Victorian AIDS Action Committee (later the Victorian AIDS Council) 1983. Vice-President VAC 1984-86, President 1986-87. Committee member, Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations 1985-88. Member, Victorian Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS 1989-92, Deputy Chair 1991-92. Attended International AIDS Conferences, Washington 1987, Montreal 1989. Attended Sixth International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific, October 2001, as editor of ICAAP News. Attended 14th International AIDS Conference, Barcelona, Spain, as editor of AIDS 2002 Today (conference newspaper), July 2002.
